Altered Paper Mache Jewelry Box

HELLO MY FELLOW BLOGGERS

This is my second Altered Paper Mache Jewelry Box

I wanted to do something very different with this paper mache jewelry box, it was also very challenging to do too. But at the end of the results it was so worth! Now, the first thing I did was I removed the mirror. When removing the mirror, Please use caution!!! You don't want to rip the box its self or when using a utility knife use extra caution! I learned the hard way....lol (OUCH)

Once the mirror was removed I covered it with gold tissue paper. I brushed on the glue to get a better coverage and smoother edges.

This time instead of hand painting the paper mache jewelry box. I sprayed painted it to get a better coverage. I went light on coating so there were no running of the paint. I repeated this about three times to get the right amount of over all coverage. It came out a lot better than I ever expected!!

Once the paint dried I measured the mirror and cut out four strips of ribbon for the background, I used my hot glue gun for this one and worked out pretty good. But I would recommend using reg. glue and wait for it to dry. Once all four sides were done I reapplied the mirror. Now for that one I would recommend using the hot glue gun. :)

For the outside of the box, I had taken a 12x12 sheet of rose printed paper and cut it up to line the inside and outside of the paper mache jewelry box. I also used the same ribbon I used for the background of the mirror. The embellishments used for this project was gold pearls, off white and white flowers, cameo and gems.
